Jupiter’s blessings do require our attention & dedication.

The first degrees of any sign is similar to a child taking his first steps, shaky, unstable, learning how to ground and settle in. Jupiter may be the four-leaf clover of the planetary line-up, but even Jove is not without his growing pains.

Jupiter entered Cancer on June 9th, this is a really fortunate move for goodwill Jupiter. Jupiter is associated with expansion, but also integration. Expansion has a limit to where we grow and how much we can learn. We  must also take the time to incorporate how we are growing and what we are learning within ourselves for a more fully integrated, whole individual.

Jupiter is extremely well-resourced in the sign of Cancer, but these early weeks have presented some obstacles. It is wise to consider that this is the temple of the Moon, and she wears many faces, expresses many moods, and maybe this is also an environment that needs slow adaptation.

Jupiter hit a wall to Saturn on Sunday June 15th, this was a wall of integration. By its opposite nature of Jupiter and expansion, Saturn constrains and constricts. This was the last opening square between these two major outer planets, and it completes the opening aspect that began in December 2020.

The Jupiter*Saturn conjunction, a planetary combination that resets nearly every 20 years, is a call to implement new structures and systems not only in our individual lives, but collectively. The world was shifting in immense ways in 2020, and our individual lives did not escape this mutation.  Maybe we began to see outdated ways of living, closed doors on diminishing returns. To me, this initial transit signaled a call to live a more authentic life, one that pushed me closer into the direction of my natal Sun’s drive and purpose.

Since 2020, the world has evolved, adjusted, and many shifted their own personal vistas. How many of our life’s look the same as they did in 2020? We learned right and wrong ways of doing new things, set new goals and challenges,  mindsets. There has been growth and loss.

Opening square aspects teach us our limits and show us what is possible when real action is activated. We are currently in a period of better understanding what we are up against, yet we also possess the greater wisdom to incorporate all we have learned up to this point.

Jupiter and Saturn’s next major aspect in this synodic cycle will be the opposition in December 2029. For now, we are given lessons in supporting what is dying or sick. Maybe there are a few more layers to peel back and discard so we can move further into a new way of living that is more aligned in how we are growing.

“Jupiter has also been associated with medicine and healing the reintegration of the body after illness or prevention of bodily disintegration.” -Robert Hand

Saturn, the grim reaper is not in its power in Aries, there are dying fires. Jupiter in Cancer is fully resourced and ready to care and support that which is on life support.

A Personal Saturnian Wall

The Jupiter*Saturn square began to appear in my own life as the aspect was applying. My mother went into the hospital suddenly with heart issues that were resolved and my first fur baby began to wind her life down at the very same time. I knew it was time for my pup to pass at 16 years old.

As the square moved into exact position, I made the phone call to begin discussing end of life care Friday the 13th, yet never making the actual appointment. On Sunday, June 15th, the exact square, we celebrated what I knew would be her final full day. She enjoyed a family pool day, celebrating Father’s Day, a birthday, and her. She was surrounded by family, memories and love. She didn’t eat all day, but she enjoyed the fresh air and moved more than she had in the last few weeks. On Monday, I woke knowing this was her final day of life. I even knew it would be a 4:30 appointment. I called the vet that morning and he asked me if I could bring at her 4:30. Saturn spoke. Cherry passed exactly at 4:40 pm.

My own natal chart possesses an exalted Jupiter in Cancer, in the 11th house. The 11th house is also the place where Jupiter is known to have his joy, and it has been my annual profected year as well. I know this year will bring opportunities in good fortune, but it doesn’t mean Lady Fortuna will stack fortune in my favor fully. There will be hard moments this year, moments that will teach me about integration.

What I am learning, is that an exalted Jupiter in Cancer will provide you with enough resources of strength and understanding to remain centered in the wheel, the most balanced position where life won’t toss you around too violently. This requires a level of consolidation, bringing in the philosophy of Jupiter, observing how the duality of the world actually dances together even though it seems so opposed. Life (Jupiter) and death (Saturn), two sides of the gold coin.

My natal Jupiter is also in mutual reception with my natal Pisces Moon, and this brings home the lesson of an aging Saturn in the 8th house of death. Cancer and the Moon both represent nurturing, mothering, protecting. Called to care for those who need my love, my strength, my reserves and support them as they spin on their own wheel. I must make the call when Saturn arrives at the threshold of my pup’s door. The door is open.

When Cherry passed at 4:40 pm, the Moon had just entered Pisces and sat at 1°. Jupiter was also sitting at 1° Cancer. Both were making their natal return in my chart, coming to their home placement. In perfect trine aspect (Jupiter’s aspect), to the very exact degree, the astroclock signaled she was returning home, returning to the stars. That evening my daughter said to me, “She’s gonna make the sky pretty tonight.” She has.

Jupiter Grounding into Cancer

The Jupiter*Saturn square will be felt through June and will have further activations. Pay attention to where you may be feeling vulnerable, where things are aging out. There is learned medicine with exalted Jupiter. Exalted Jupiter has the ability to provide you with immense resources in your emotional toolkit, applying the nutritive salve to assist during these transitional phases.

On June 20th, the Sun entered Cancer. This moved the Sun into a square aspect as well with Saturn on the 22nd, a call back to the Jupiter*Saturn square and the ongoing themes of releasing and making space for healing wisdom to be integrated. My dog’s ashes were returned home on this very day.

The Sun will conjunct Jupiter on June 24, and this beautiful cazimi moment will shine a noetic light revealing the beauty of it all, this is where the treasure lies. Cazimi moments are special days when a planet joins the Sun in conjunction, receiving protection and a gift. The gift can be in the form of renewal, for this a reset moment for Jupiter’s cycle. Jupiter is now being reborn, and it is beautiful imagery in the sign of Cancer. Remember Cancer represents the matrix of the mother, the embroynic waters that nourish growth, and feed the home. Jupiter is gaining even more strength and ample healthy growth.

The day after the cazimi, the Sun and the Moon (the ruler of Cancer), the  father and mother, meet in a New Moon aspect. Another theme of rebirth. This signals to me that we are ready to move forward from the challenges we have faced earlier in the month, or even making greater progress in the greater goals of the great reordering.

I see this Cancer New Moon on June 25, which is also occurring under my solar return, as a time for my grieving heart to mend, and a fresh focus on the domestic front. The New Moon in Cancer may be a quiet, behind the scenes period. I hope to set up a new alter shelf for my dog’s ashes, honoring and creating closure.

This New Moon is moving and settling Jupiter into our Cancer sector of our chart. Jupiter will be here for an entire year, and his sea legs are steadying. We will have an entire year of reaping the benefits of Jupiter’s wisdom. Praise Jove.
